TEHRAN - Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has said that execution of Sheikh Nimr is not justified, saying the execution shows Saudi government’s rage at its failures in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.

“The Iranian people and government are concerned about the Yemeni people’s destiny, we praise the Yemeni people’s resistance against the Saudi oppression which suppresses the Yemeni nation on behalf of the U.S. and the Zionists,” he said during a meeting with a group of Yemeni scholars in Tehran on Sunday.

Velayati said he is sure that Saudi Arabia will be defeated militarily in Yemen.

He also said that Iran has provided the Yemeni people with help and expressed hope that the aid would be increased.

According to military and political analysts the Saudi government has failed to achieve any of its goals in nearly 10 months of attacks on the small country of Yemen. They also say the attacks have led to the emergence of ISIL in Yemen.

Human rights organizations have accused the Saudi regime of committing war crimes in Yemen.
